Tristy Lee- DIY | Home Decor | Art | Project Inspiration
Does farmhouse decor make you weak in the knees? Mine get weak especially when they are custom. I am always on the lookout for unique pieces that I can use to style my entryway, hearth, and tables. When I saw the work that Jessica Hazleton is doing, I couldn’t wait to buy a piece. When I found out she was building on her lifelong woodworking passion. Since I love farmhouse signs maybe I need to learn how to use a scroll saw.
Getting started with a scroll saw:
I had no idea that Jessica had a hobby doing word working, so I was naturally curious to find out more about her work. I was so excited to hear the story since I am personally focused on sharing my passion for crafts, art, and décor with Lily. It turns out that Jessica spent countless hours working with her dad Carter Grant in his workshop. Since then, she has continued to build on her woodworking skills throughout her life. However, her adventures in learning to use the scroll saw she currently using started about 6 months ago.
Build on your existing skills:
I am always interested in how things are made and what it takes. I am hoping to make it to Lake Havasu to work with her in person. One of the things I appreciate most about Jessica’s new work is that she is stepping up her game through learning and building on the skills already in her toolbelt. She uses Pinterest, like many of us, to get inspiration and work through lots of trial and error on building her skills for her new scroll saw hobby.
Does it get any cuter than this? Daddy and daughter supply hunting?
Supplies:
This DIY adventure will require you to make an investment. Just think you could have a different farmhouse style sign for each season. Jessica recommends the DeWalt brand power tools.
Scroll saw
Small blades: Designed for intricate cuts
Table saw: This one she points out is not required but is a really excellent companion tool.
If you’re going to invest in this skillset do it right. Invest in a quality saw, blades, and wood. So that you don’t have to buy it twice. If you buy a cheap saw and blades they will not give you tight cuts and corners that give projects a professional finish. Ladies don’t be afraid power tools are fun.
How to complete a Scroll saw Farmhouse Sign:
1. Find a design you like or create one of your own
2. Transfer it to the wood using carbon transfer paper or a pencil
3. Use the scroll saw to cut the wood
4. Sand
5. Stain or paint the wood
6. Put it together
Incorporating a Farmhouse sign into your DECOR.
These signs can be customized with names, dates, hobbies, seasons, and holidays. I think they would make a great addition in the following locations in your home:
· Entryway: For ideas, take a look at Spring Decor Ideas.
· Door: attach it to a wreath or add a hook to display it on your front door.
· Hearth: Adding some seasonal decor to your fireplace is a great way to display things for a short time.
· Bedrooms: Add this to a picture grouping to add visual interest. For example, in a nursery with a name and born on date.
· Tablescapes or Centerpiece ideas: Get some ideas on how to do this Spring Decor Ideas.
I don’t know about you, but I’m putting my order in today.

I have been browsing online more than 2 hours today, yet I never found any interesting article like
yours. It is pretty worth enough for me. Personally,
if all webmasters and bloggers made good content as you did, the net will be a lot
more useful than ever before.
