Have you ever bought a piece of décor that, after a few years, you just don’t love anymore? I think this happens to everyone. I like to think about the possibilities for the piece before I donate something. We have a fun Facebook group in our neighborhood where we typically post things and offer them up to each other before we donate them. One of my friends Sarah Bradford, knows I enjoy doing projects, and she also knows that I like to refresh my décor at home and in our two vacation rental houses.
One day Sara brought over this floral wooden décor piece that she no longer wanted to display. It was a cute piece and would have been acceptable to hang in one of my rental properties.
I set it aside and thought I might want to paint or stain it before I painted it. Joan Atwood, my mom, came up, and I showed it to her to get her thoughts.
She immediately thought about adding some wooden florals to it. We made a trip to Hobby Lobby since I knew they had some. We found the perfect package of florals in the exact colors of the wooden piece.
You don’t have to have these exact pieces to do something similar. Hopefully, this blog inspires you to get creative juices to help you look through a new lens when your décor is feeling dated.
