It was time to work on lighting for our bedroom. Since our other lighting projects turned out so well, we wanted to create some additional DIY pendant lights for our room. Therefore we were on the lookout for the perfect pendant lighting option for our master bedroom. Homegoods and TJMaxx are where we started. Next, we were wandering through looking at free-standing candle lanterns. Drawn to some Moroccan inspired metal lanterns, we are ready to start.

Now, if you want an easy conversion for a pendant light, these turned out to be beautiful and simple.

Supplies:

Things you will need for a DIY Pendant Lighting project.
• Pendant Kit
• Drill
• Lightweight lanterns

*Tip- if you’re going to see the bulb buy an interesting one. Because there are a lot of options out there. We choose a long Edison type bulb with a warm glow.

Don’t forget to think about how much light you need in the room.  Since the more cutouts in the lantern, the more light you will get in the place.

Next, we used sharp wire cutters to remove the central section of the lantern to support a candle. Then we bought our favorite pendant light kits from Home Depot. Ultimately we decided we wanted it to look like it was hanging from the handle. This was accomplished by quickly drilling through the thin metal handle and stringing the kit as designed through the lantern. Further, to up the impact on these lights, we bought some custom bulbs that were longer with a warm undertone.  Finally going the extra mile, we installed a dimmer switch to allow for an adjustable level of light.

I must say these lights are stunning in at night with the way they cast shadows on the walls and ceiling in a delicate lacy pattern.

Take a look at some of our other lighting projects:

1.  These lights were for our entryway: DIY Hand-blown glass pendant lights

2. We wanted to match our entryway lights with these: DIY Wall Sconces

3. In our kitchen, we added these: DIY Bike Gear Pendant lights

First off I want to say great blog! I had a quick question which I’d like to ask if you do not mind.
I was interested to find out how you center yourself and clear
your head prior to writing. I’ve had trouble clearing
my mind in getting my ideas out there. I do take pleasure in writing however it just seems like
the first 10 to 15 minutes tend to be wasted simply just trying to figure out how to begin. Any recommendations or hints?
    Thanks!
