Summer interior design trends and the 4th of July go hand in hand. The vibrant colors of summer are right on trend with interior design trends. It is time to pull out all the red, white, and blue and to incorporate it into our home décor. I spent the weekend at my mom’s house, and so we were able to put together several versions of options to inspire your 4th of July holiday tablescape.

TableScape Planning:

When looking for tablescape options for my blog, I like to start with gathering all of my supplies. I have an assortment of holiday-specific décor that I have bought over the years, as well as things that I have made. I gather the holiday-specific items into one space, but then I walk through the house looking for items I have in other rooms that can be used in different groupings. I look for a variety of sizes and objects in colors of the theme in this case for a patriotic tablescape.

Tablescape inspiration:

One of the best things about refreshing décor for the holidays and seasons is the gathering process revisiting old memories of holiday crafts, and memories of collectibles. For the 4th of July tables, we gathered our clearly patriotic collected pieces like table runners, crafts, and flags with patriotic designs. Next, I walk through the house with a plan to collect red, white, blue treasures from around the house. I also gathered favorite items in neutral colors and metallics that I wanted to display.

Raggedy Anne and Andy

Dolls: These Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls were passed down from my Grandma Craig and the perfect colors to display.

Vintage Wooden Pepsi Crates

Vintage wooden crates: Jet and I enjoy wandering antique shops and consignment shops while vacationing. We found these in Las Vegas at Lynn’s World Consignment shop, where we have seen many of the pieces we use to decorate our home.

4th of July Gnomes

4th of July Gnomes: My mom and nieces created the cutest gnomes for my Christmas Tree last year. Pam Freday gave me some charming needle felt spring color gnomes. They were cute on my spring tablescape I asked my mom to teach me how to create some gnomes for other holidays and seasons to include in my décor. Stay tuned. We, of course, recorded it all to teach you how to do it.

Harvard Classic Books

Harvard Classic books: I asked my Grandma and Grandpa Craig to pass these books down to me.
They are a classic red, and I have a bookcase full of them. My Grandpa Craig had the most fantastic handwriting, like traditional calligraphy. I didn’t know it when I asked for the books, but you can see his signature on them.

Antique Camera
Cecil Waterman Camera Case

Antique Camera: This is a camera passed down to me from my Great Grandparents “Pappa” and “Mother” Waterman. I was so blessed to have them in my life until I was a young adult. Every time I pull out the camera, it brings back memories of spending time with them. Pappa was an incredibly charming man who, when he shopped, complimented people and made them feel special. Charm is a quality I equally admire in Jet. He can join any group and quickly become old friends with people he meets.

 Tablescape-Centerpiece 4th of July ideas:

Keep in mind you want to think about tablescape designs for dining when putting your display together. You should be able to quickly move or keep the items low enough that you can still have a conversation at the dinner table.

History Tablescape

Family history 4th of July Tablescape:  For my table, I used the 4th of July table runner.
One of the advantages of using a runner is that it allows you to move the enter tablescape to one side of the table if you need to make room. For this design, I placed the tallest object at one end and gradually moved to the smallest items on the other end of the table. I started with the largest objects spacing them out on the table then filling in with smaller pieces and layering items.

Raggedy Anne and Andy Tablescape

Raggedy Anne and Andy Tablescape:
This tablescape showcases Raggedy Anne, and Andy dolls passed down from my Grandma Craig. They have a fun bench that gives them some height. It also features a craft project we did last year with some glass bottles where we decorated the outside with some patriotic bells and paper and filled the bottle with raffia. We used a store-bought garland of grapes to tie into the DIY 4th of July Floral Wreath we did for the front door. A few small pieces from around the house patchwork star and a couple of blue ceramic bowls.

America Tablescape

America Tablescape:
We did a fun craft project last year with supplies from Wood Creations. They specialize in wood cutouts decorated with color scrapbook paper, Mod Podge, and decorative embellishments. We used a patriotic color wreath we already had behind it for some added color and another version of rustic Raggedy Ann doll.

Gnome Tablescape

4th of July Gnome Tablescape:
Mom created some 4th of July gnomes that we highlight in this tablescape. We also used a vintage bottle decorate. We placed a patriotic theme wreath on the table then put a bowl inside the wreath to raise the center up to put the bottle. We added the gnomes, then put blue grape garland behind it and added two ceramic balls.

Telling your story through DECOR:

I love telling my story through decor, and I am sharing it so you can look for opportunities to do this. I enjoy telling my family about my memories and asking about some of the treasures from my husband’s collection. It was fun to share the stories with my family while we set up these 4th of July tablescapes ideas.
